About  the therapist
Ms.  Haugaard  is  registered  by  the  Art Therapy Credentials Board.  She  has  been  practicing  art therapy since 1990,  when she received her  M.A. from The George Washington University's Art Therapy program.  She is a Licensed Counselor  with  the District  of Columbia.

Ms. Haugaard  also  received a graduate  certificate in Gerontology from The Catholic University of  America, where her  B.A. comprehensive exam was awarded Honors (sculpture).  She began her  training  in Drug Abuse  in  1977  in  Ithaca,  New York.
Ms. Haugaard is  fluent  in Spanish.

Ms. Haugaard  is a member of  the  American  Art Therapy Association,  the Potomac  Art Therapy Association,  and  the Southern Maryland  Counseling  Association.  She  is vice-president of  the Southern  Maryland  Psychological Association (2005).
